A Novel High Efficiency Catalyst for Oxidation of Butane to Make Maleic Anhydride

 After years of researching and studying, a novel Catalyst for oxidation of butane to make Maleic Anhydride was developed by our company (New Tianjin T. & D. Co., Ltd). This novel catalyst can be suitable for fixed bed and also for fluidized bed reactors. As contrast with conventional one, which is already worldwide used in industry, the novel catalyst gives 5 percent higher yield in fixed bed and 10 percent higher yield in fluidized bed reactors. In the mean time it has the advantage of high conversion rate and high selectivity as well.

For fluidized bed the evaluation conditions are as follows:

ID of fluidized bed reactor is 25 mm; 90 ml catalyst; feed at room temperature and operated under atmosphere pressure; concentration of n-butane in air 4.2 % (v/v); GHSV 500 hr -1.

 Under industrial conditions of 180 C feed temperature, 0.2 MPa reacting pressure and high superficial velocity, the predictive results will be as follows:

For fixed bed the evaluation conditions are as follows:

ID of fixed bed reactor is 18 mm; 10 ml catalyst; operated under atmosphere pressure; concentration of n-butane in air 1.5 % (v/v); GHSV 2400 hr -1.

 Moreover, this novel catalyst has good repetition and stability. The yield didnt change after 1500 hours life test. There is no necessary to adjust temperature to control conversion rate and selectivity.                           

 This novel catalyst can be not only applied to a new design but also used to revamp for increasing the capacity of old plants. For such kind of revamping, the productive capacity of Maleic Anhydride can be increased by 10-25% and without change any process conditions, so all clients can get good benefit. Our company has the ability to complete all this revamping.
